art history revisited/IT GOES ON show prep/fresh ink/art

waiting for laundry to dry i decided to dig through my old art projects

half cabs, anarchy, flatland...yeah that's about right

Vo-Tech was rad. "choose a photo and enlarge it". Ron Chatman tail grab at 500%.

"illustrate a texture". skinhead rebel.

Visual Thinking was probably my favorite class of all time. anything went.

Letterforms. pretty much every project involved skateboarding, Star Wars or Ninjas

I kinda miss marker comps

i fucking hated pastels

i loved printmaking though. gotta find where i stashed my other projects from that class

life drawing. some of the stuff i don't mind but as you'll see, da Vinci I was not.

there, is that better? i know that's all you were looking at anyway.

muscle studies

once i got into the design courses there were lots of thumbnails. lots.

Star Wars again

more thumbnails

half size comp to finished product

advertising

television commercial storyboard

food product ideas for package design

now maybe it's because i have a sentimental attachment to this piece but if i saw Michael J. Fox's Instant Eggs in the breakfast aisle, rest assured it would be in my eco-friendly shopping bag without a moment's hesitation.

I bet Gleason would buy these

1/2 size spreads for my graffiti newsletter. FEST anyone?

"advertise your product without using any words"

Mr. Evangelista pencil studies! toughest professor i ever had grading wise but he was awesome. whenever one of the hot girls in class would say something dumb he would tell them "Don't you know pretty girls are just supposed to sit there and not say anything? Go put on some lipstick." I don't think that would fly in today's classroom setting.

my wash was still in the dryer so i moved over to the closet. spare pair of Chucks and Koston 1's in white. some people just know style.

my sticker book from junior high. Team Smiley was me, Bortz and Chad's skate team. We also had Team Gunpoint but that was strictly for transition.

probably my favorite high school graphics project ever

Jen Zwally gave me the G&S one in 7th grade. she bought it for me at the beach while she was on vacation. it pretty much made my summer. she was my first experience with the "Friend Zone". lesson learned.

logo i made for our first band

Brian made this flyer out of pics of me, chad and chris wrestling in the high school parking lot and a Sassy magazine

Ray came over one day and i typed my first zine. of course i had to reread it. big mistake. cringeworthy. please don't read.

see Tif, we ALL went through a tye dye phase. i wore mine with fatigues and high tops though. who's up for a Knucklehead reunion? i do remember Matt Kubecheski moshing when we covered Minor Threat.

prethePushkars

Brian always made cool shit

in summers during college, i'd work at the local skatepark. one time some of the locals and i tried to figure out how many flavors of Snapple there were. we got stumped so I wrote them a letter. I wonder if Stephanie was THE Snapple Lady?

still blood on my board from my lip incident

from the lift. Matt on the plumbing and Panic in hot pursuit

then a night in West Chester. down in Brian's shop making posters for the photoshow

one color down

Jude showed up to art direct

2nd color down

thanks bro. you're tops.

there are always gems to be found in the basement. clockwise from top left: 1976 Barto family christmas pic, the East Falls warehouse, me, brian and a lion at Animal Actors (mom had the hook up to a place where they raise animals that would appear in movies and commercials)

evening jog. perfect training weather for the Sweaty Yetti.

back to West Chester for some window display preparation

access to the work shop denied

Barto Brothers painting service. where's my smock?

the blessing/weathering of the wall

splayed out

let the crucifixion begin

winter wonderland at Bear Creek the next morning

rolling deep on the peak. from L to R: Metal J, Panic, Big Al, Xcrament, Brian Krakow. call your drop.

new junk

IT KEEPS ME WARM

THE PYRES FOR THE DEAD LIGHT UP THE SKY

BECAUSE WE LIVE HERE

THE WIND JUST KEEPS ON BLOWING

WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE, DIE STANDING UP

I REMEMBER ALL OF IT

SOMEBODY'S GOTTA LIVE. SOMEBODY'S GOTTA MAKE IT.

AVENGE ME

NO ONE CAN EVER GO HOME AGAIN
